Bharatanatyam Classical Dancer From Nagpur – Pooja Hirwade


Pooja Hirwade who was a software engineer at Capgemini India Pvt Ltd. , quit her well paid job to devote all her time to dancing and to serve the underprivileged Class of the society as well as impart training to next generation. She decided to Dance for a Cause throughout life.

She is currently pursuing 4th Semester of Master of Fine Arts from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur with specialization in Bharatanatyam. She is certified Alankar Poorna in Bharatanatyam from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj and Passed 2nd-year Senior diploma Examination in Carnatic music with distinction conducted by Hindustan Art & Music Society, an esteemed examination board of Indian art and culture.

Pooja curates and organizes some of the most memorable dance programmes and charity events in Nagpur in collaboration with Sankalp NGO and other agencies. She has conceptualized, curated and choreographed,


An amount of RS 50000/- was raised through the show to meet the needs of educational materials for the underprivileged girl children adopted by Mecosabagh Methodist high school.

An amount of Rs. 1 Lakh raised was donated to Snehaanchal for the welfare of cancer patients. Also felicitated Women Cancer Survivors from Nagpur with “ANTARAGNI – The Fire Within ‘ Award to spread awareness about early detection and treatment.

In aid of daughters of the deceased farmer families and donated RS 75000/- through this dance show.

  • “Saptarang Kalashree Award 2017” at the hands of Shri Ashok Chavan, Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra at Saptarang Cultural festival at Nanded.


  • “Central India Women Excellence Award 2018” in Art and Culture Category by Loktantra Mirror on the occasion of International Women’s Day.


  • Gaurav Puraskar-2012 by Shivraj Pratishthan, Nagpur for extraordinary achievement in the field of Culture especially in Bharatanatyam


  • Kaladarpanam Meritorious Award 2008 at 14th Kerala Mahasangama Sabha When did the artist make their dance Debut: In the year 2007 with Mumbai Natyanjali.

  • Presentation of Indian Culture through Classical and folk dance performances in front of delegates from 40 countries at ASIA PACIFIC QUALITY NETWORK Conference


  • A Lecture demonstration on “Introduction to Indian Classical Dances” followed by 1 hour Bharatanatyam recital at International BRICS Summit 2017 in front of delegates from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa at RGNIIPM, Nagpur.


  • Inaugural performance to introduce the theme RITUSAMHARAM at the prestigious KALIDAS SAMAROH 2017, organized by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation on 17th November 2017.


  • Performed Solo Bharatanatyam as a tribute to India’s independence at the prestigious NRITYABHARATHI 2017, a unique travelling festival organized by Natyasaraswathi and ICCR, Kolkata on 18th Aug 2017.


  • MTDC KORADI FESTIVAL 2017, organized by Maharashtra Tourism Development
